Hello. Just purchased an ART Voice Channel pre amp that takes up 2 rack spaces, and I have a power conditioner requiring one rack space. So I need a 3 U rack. My question is are the "rear rails" needed? Not sure what installing them would do for me. Thank You

You would not need rear rails in your situation. They are typically used in the smaller desktop racks to mount I/O panels or vented panels.

I'm interested in this for my home studio Axe FX III setup under my monitor. What is weight limit for putting things on top? Also, would you recommend adding ventilation cutouts and if so does that affect the weight limit?

Weight limit is 150 pounds. Adding waveform vents in the sides will not affect the weight limit. Adding a waveform in the top will make the wood in between the slots more fragile. As long as the weight is distributed evenyl across the waveform, I would be comfortable with the same weight limit.

For this product, what is the bottom construction/material for the finger jointed version? I'd like to stand this up on its back, next to my chair, with the faceplates of my equipment facing up (or slightly slanted of course), so I'd need the bottom to be exposed which is why I'm wondering if it is constructed as beautifully as the rest of the cabinet.

The bottom is the same solid wood material. The finger joints are only on the top and front corners. The bottom is glued and nailed in, or butt jointed.
